To realize our mission, we started by designing EverTee. It was done in AutoCAD and SolidWorks . These models were used to explain to stakeholders and manufacturers. Our first prototype for modeling clay made of machined plastics. We felt that plastics were the only material that could clear sustainability requirements. The downside was, of course, environmental emissions, but these were assumed to be small because the shelf life would be high and the risk of off vintage low. The plastic would also be possible to drive over with the mower without mower would be damaged. We also investigated what the rules said for our product:
- It's okay to put the ball on anything as a rash. Eg a hamburger, a heap of earth or a EverTee peg.
- It's not okay to peg helps to determine the direction / aim.
In addition, local regulations occur at the golf clubs.
The machined prototype was linked with fishing line and tested under severe conditions. It turned out that it did not meet because it was made of hard plastic, something else was not turning because the melting temperature. Hard plastic was generally poor quality and cracked. Another problem was that turning requires much manual effort and provides poor precition, an impossible combination in the case of mass production.
The solution was spelled molding. A technique whereby a mold is made in the molding compound is injected which solidifies into a product. The process is helautomatsik with millimeter precise production. No restrictions for materials are not all plastics can be used. The only drawback is that the solid kostanderna are high (about 20 thousand for enkast possible tools + 10 thousand for adjustment), but this is compensated by a low unit price (about £ 1 per peg depending on material).
We chose anyway to bet and raised money through sponsors and stakeholders in the industry and various
innovationscenter.Resultatet was a peg, which was over 100 types, EverTee 2.0. The product was found in two different lengths and colors. The idea was from the beginning that even more colors could be made to the wishes of the customer. It was not possible because the strength deteriorated in color mixing. Through a printing possible, we also made for the customer to add their own logo on the tee when ordering larger batches. It allowed for a nice market promotional product companies. Although the package, which also was designed themselves, went to customize with your own message.
EverTee came to be a success at UF show and the company won the band another tvälingarna the best companies, innovation, environment, business plan. At the national exhibition in Stockholm we ended up runner-up in the categories of innovation and business plan.
Through my involvement in EverTee I have learned a lot. Entrepreneurship is no strange but quite feasible even for a 17-year-old. The business plan we wrote still stands today after a further five years in high school and college.
There were many who believed in the idea and supported us during the time of EverTee. During the same period also started a real company in order to continue after UF year. Ambitions were high. For many reasons, which are listed below, however EverTee was never a success and today the company is suspended pending the cancellation.
- Problems with the group.
- Innovator and inventor are two completely different characters. We were the inventors, but had no ability to see how the invention could be commercialized.
- Insufficient investment in our idea. The tool that was built was for the simple reason that the product would work best.
- Fierce competition
- Lack of knowledge and lack of courage
- ...
I hope I have given a sufficient background history of the Golf-innovators still EverTee. Follow my analysis of techonomics.se, why it went wrong?
