This fall I will move to Australia to study at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. The Swedish krona is now very weak against the Australian dollar. An Australian U.S. dollars gives the entire 5.78 million.
One way to finnansiera his trip abroad is to apply for a grant travel grant. I have done that. How are we to do to get a scholarship? I have not received anything yet, but hopefully I have the right recipe.
1 Find a scholarship
The first step is finding the right grant to apply. This can be done in different ways. One way is to go through his Swedish school, in my case Chalmers. Another possibility, which however failed for me, is to look at their universities. Organizations, banks and businesses are other possible inputs.
You have to find the scholarship that's right for you. In my case, I have been searching for scholarships for amitiösa students with good grades. I have not found any such, but is convinced that there should be?
Many scholarships are given to those who have difficulty finnansiera their education. In Sweden, this might seem strange as all get both loans and grants, but my assumption is that you can find these on income excluding loans.
2 Make a budget
Some scholarships do not care where the money goes and takes into account only your resume, others do not. To show that you are in need of the scholarship is therefore often a budget. My budget for Australia is as follows:
| Proceeds | Budgeted |
| Contributions CSN | 25 720 SEK |
| Travel Grants World Wide Exchange (from Adler Bergska) | SEK 25 000 |
| Placed Saman secure revenue | 50 720 SEK |
| EXPENDITURE | Budgeted |
| Hire AUSD 254 per week, 1 AUSD = 5.87 SEK * | 77 530 SEK |
| Special round-trip Sydney | SEK 20 000 |
| Food, 1500 per month | SEK 18 000 |
| Travel in Australia | SEK 10 000 |
| Insurance | 2 000 SEK |
| Other expenditure | SEK 10 000 |
| Placed costs Saman | 137 530 SEK |
| Expenditure to cover the loans and grants | 86 810 SEK |
*) Part of the apartment on campus, students who are there believe that 254 AUS per week is normal. See: <http://www.housing.unsw.edu.au/apartments.php?id=4> Retrieved on: (2009-03-03)
The budget shows red figures, I expect to be able finnansiera through scholarships, saving money and at worst loans. The project budget also has a column for the actual outcome, which is filled in after completion of the project. Thus, the project can be evaluated and questions like why not budget outcome was as planned can be.
3 Write a letter
Many scholarships require a cover letter. Important points to be addressed in this is to justify why you are in need of and suitable for the particular scholarship. Start from the scholarship fund rules that describe the type of person to be distributed to.
Another good thing would be to tell a little about yourself. What interests and commitment do you stand for? What do you do in your spare time? What distinguishes you from the crowd?

Another tip for finding scholarships is to go through scholarship databases. The university library in Gothenburg are databases where you can set different parameters and then get the scholarships that fit. However, one must go there to do the search, similar services can be purchased from home, but then at a cost of 150-500 kr. Lycknis also has a scholarship database that can be searched from home, however, one must become a member which is free. Most libraries are also usually a stipendiebok, with lots of different foundations!
Another good idea is to call the contact person, sometimes to inquire whether it is possible for one to apply for the scholarship but also to hear if there are any special pre-printed forms must be used!
Your other item of SEK 10 000 seems very large and unspecified. But other activities such as partying, training and flight?
Well, I'm referring to books, clothes, doctor visits and anything else that may pop up. Of course I am also interested to go for an occasional party but I do not take up the budget.
Good comment! Have you thought of this? Tried lycknis with no luck. Do you think the database on the GU is better?
Since I'm going to Singapore, I should reasonably have thought about this. But then http://wackerberg.se gives me great income, I have not had time to think about the cost - it's small potatoes in the context.
No. I should think about this and make a budget, at least so I have to find out how much it would cost. Have thought seek any scholarships.
I hope you have equal value problem I, even though Singapore is probably one of the most expensive countries in Asia.
Do not ABB indgymn scholarships, or ABB as a whole?? You should check out.
I checked it with the father, but received poor response. At ABB high school, they have no scholarships. At Rudbeck, it is well to old successful individuals have donated money. ABB High School has not been around that long.
The tactic is to go to the library and do a search in their database. Also consider hiring an agency to provide a search. It is apparently not as many scholarships as possible to find using standard search engines.
Write an email to the Communications Manager for ABB.
A pain to have vg in English .. haha ..
Nah do not really care! But cool ratings in general! You can tell that you make an effort!
Thank you!
I am satisfied with my grades but can not get excited too much when you succeed with VG in English and 4 in marketing. Hope it does not affect too much to future employers. / David
